Oh, I am sad that the weekend is over. We had such a wonderful, relaxing break! Thank you Mom and Dad for such a good time!! Hannah had a fantastic time- she played on the playground, went on hikes, went on a pony ride, played with her cousins, watched all the animals at the nature center, and had an all around fantastic trip! Here are some of my favorite pictures:

Hannah dancing with her shadow- I wish I had the video camera with me!

Watching the horses, while waiting for her pony to be saddled up.
I have so many more pictures- but so little time! I have a million other things I should be doing, but I couldn't resist sharing a few!
I should be packing right now, but am wasting time on the computer instead. Also as soon as I am done with this post, I am going to crawl into bed and hopefully get a great night's sleep. I will pack tomorrow- we are going to the lake with my family and I CANNOT WAIT! (and you think this would make me eager to pack, but eh) I am so thankful to have a break- Mike finished his test yesterday and feels really good about it. I am looking forward to having a relaxing weekend before we have to get down to business getting the baby's room ready, finish organizing the house (oh the nesting!), and get ready for the holidays! The weather is beautiful- cool, but not cold and I am SO LOOKING FORWARD to getting away! I hope you all have a great weekend!
Tonight we took our mommies out to dinner (with our sweet little Hannah, of course) to celebrate mother's day. It was really nice to have some time to talk and hang out. We had a lovely dinner and Hannah was great (even though our waiter was really slow and we were there for over two hours) and she really enjoyed my dessert. (cheesecake) My tummy and heart are full from a great evening and now it's off to bed.
Today is my niece Abbi's birthday! Abbi is such a sweetie- even though she is making me feel really old by turning 12!! Abbi, you are a great big sister, cousin, daughter, grand-daughter and niece! We are so lucky to have you in our family! Happy Birthday!
So I know that Hannah's birthday was a couple of weeks ago, and I am just now posting some details. Honestly, I am posting this in case anyone is trying to come up with ideas for party favors for a first birthday. (other terms I googled were "party favors for one year old" "first birthday favors" "favors for baby's first birthday") Since I had such a hard time I thought I would share what I did- I bought wiffle balls. All of the babies/toddlers at Gymboree love the wiffle balls and I thought this idea would be great since we had a few older siblings at the party too. It is also something that Hannah loves to play with, so if we had extras left it would be something that she would actually play with, instead of some random junk. So instead of buying the wiffle balls at Gymboree, where they are definitely marked up, I bought them at a local sporting goods store in a big multi-colored bag. I tied them up with curling ribbon and a little tag that said "I had so much fun- I'm glad you could come! Thanks for helping me celebrate turning one! Love, Hannah".

So there you have it- an age appropriate, easy, inexpensive party favor for one year olds! For those of you googling- I hope this is something you can use!
My friend Angela over at The Painted House could use some bloggy love. They just received news that her husband has non-Hodgkin lymphoma. I am heart-sick for her family. She is a fellow doctors wife with young children, and she and her precious family have been on my mind. Angela is taking this news with strength and grace, but she could use your prayers and encouragement. Let's bless her with kindness and compassion, so won't you please stop over and share an encouraging word?
The trip to the vet went better than I expected- Oliver has a knee issue that is pretty common in toy breeds. We will be giving him some glucosamine supplements and resting before we decide if we want to take ex-rays and consider surgery. The vet seemed pretty confident that the glucosamine will help. I am relieved that it was not something more serious. So now all we have to do is figure out how to make him rest for the next couple of weeks. Any ideas?
