The Lake, Part 2

Can you tell by the look on David's face that he had a blast on the boat?

He was so excited and kept begging to go "faster, faster!" He was giddy with excitement, and the faster we went, the more exctied he got! "Having a go" driving the boat,

When Mommy started driving the boat, David cuddled up with Grammy and took a nap. I guess my driving wasn't as fast and exciting as Daddy's!

We had so much fun and I am so thankful for this tradition- we have been going on fall break for the last 17 years and I look forward to many more!

The Lake, Part 1

During fall break we were lucky enough to get away to the lake with my parents. Hannah and David were giddy with excitement and were on cloud 9 the entire weekend! Going for a hike with Grammy:

David was so exciting to go fishing and had his hands on his Cars rod whenever he could. Getting a lesson on casting from PaPa

He loved pushing the button and reeling it in, he did this over and over and over!

David's first fish! He had so much fun- they were getting to where they were catching fish after fish! It was so fun that they had such good luck their first time fishing! I am so thankful that my parents were there and got to see them catch their first fish- my Dad has macular degeneration and his vision has really been going down hill in the last few months, and I am grateful he got to see this special first. 

 

Little Friends

Hannah and Paige have been friends their entire lives, and it just melts my heart that they are always so happy and excited to see each other. We had some friends over a few weeks ago to welcome a new baby and the kids had so much fun playing together.

Taking a picture of 4 four and under is not that easy- but I love the cheesy look on David's face! After many, many attempts, the kids were ready to go back in and play...

We had a great time getting to see our sweet friends!

Obligatory Easter Pictures

I hope that you all had a great Easter! We had a very cold, very wet day but were able to spend the day with our families so it was worth the rain. The Easter bunny came to our house on Saturday since he knew that we would be heading from church to my parents home on Sunday, and the kids were super cute with their baskets. Hannah is quite the egg hunter, while David took a very relaxed approach and opened up each egg as he found it. The dogs even "helped" find a few eggs, but were very disappointed that the kids did not share any of their candy. We made cute bunny pancakes  and had fun with some of the fun things that the Easter bunny left. Sunday we got up to a down-pour, and headed to the early service at our church. Our church has just completed a huge add on that has more than doubled the size of the church and it was the first Sunday in the new sanctuary. It was a beautiful service, and it was packed! After church we headed home to change since it was much cooler than expected, then we headed out to my parents and it rained the entire drive, thankfully nothing severe although we were a little late. We had a delicious lunch and then the kids had egg hunt #2. My mom has a huge basket of fake apples in her living room, and David always plays with them, instead of putting eggs in his basket, he loaded it up with apples.

We had a great time visiting with our families (Mike's parents joined us for lunch and the egg hunting festivities) and headed home in more rain. On our drive home we had to go through some hail, and David was not a fan. Bless his heart, it was loud, but luckily it did not last too long and the hail was small. The kids (and parents!) were exhausted by the time we made it home, but we had a great day celebrating the resurrection of Jesus!

 

Ballerina Birthday

We celebrated Hannah's 4th birthday with family and friends at her ballet studio. Her sweet teacher helped us out and really made the party special for Hannah. I know that Hannah had a great time and I think all of her friends did too!

All is Well (More accurately, We are well!)

This has been a crazy month! And I can hardly believe that the year is almost over! Our Christmas this year was a good one, but also one that will definitely not go down in history as my favorite.  The day that I started to feel better, poor sweet Hannah got hit with the bug. It it her hard and she was just the most pitiful thing. She did make a recovery in time to see The Nutcracker, and it was so precious- she was so excited and was a stellar audience member and thoroughly enjoyed herself. She picked out a nutcracker and it has been in her room since we brought it home. (I am afraid for myself when we put away the Christmas decorations, I have a strong feeling that this is not going to go over well with her) Everyone was well for a couple of days, and then David came down sick. Nothing is more pitiful than a sick baby. David recovered much more quickly than Hannah and I (thank goodness!), but he and Mike missed out on Christmas with my side of the family. Everyone was looking to be in good shape for Christmas (which we hosted) and then Christmas Eve day, Mike got sick. Our parents decided to risk infection, and came up as planned (thank goodness- I would have had two seriously disappointed kiddos otherwise). We had a good time, but it just wasn't the same without Mike around. He got up with me and the kids at the crack of dawn on Christmas day to watch the kids open their presents from Santa, but then went back to bed. He came back out to open gifts with our families when they arrived later that morning, but again went back to bed. I am so thankful that our parents came up to celebrate it would have made the absence of Mike much more apparent to them if they had not been here. The kids were spoiled rotten by the grandparents both with presents and attention! I have spent the last few days trying to get my house into shape, catch up on a mountain of laundry (for a week straight I think all I washed were towels and sheets) and organize and find homes for the army of new toys that the grandparents brought up. I have no pictures to post because Mike was doing something technical on the computer that is out of my league and took off the picture software, (is that what it's called?) and needs to re-install it, but he cannot find the disk because his office is a complete and utter wreck. (also on my list of things to get done, it is seriously out of control- I would show you a picture but...) So I am thinking I will have to post/backdate whenever I can finally upload pictures so I have a record to look back on. I am enjoying getting back into a "normal" rhythm, and am so thankful that everyone is well! I hope that you all had a wonderful Christmas!

Tutu Cute

Hannah loves to dance and twirl, and she also loves her baby, Heidi. Hannah takes Heidi everywhere and I think it is so sweet. Heidi was a gift from my Great Grams when she was a newborn, and it makes me smile to think that Heidi is a connection between the generations. 

M...I...C...

K...E...Y...M.O.U.S.E! We had a halloween party this afternoon and the kids had a great time! Our hostess, really outdid herself and had all kinds of games and treats for the kids.  This year, David (obviously) is Mickey Mouse, and Hannah is Minnie. I love their costumes, and they do too!

But of course, nothing could compete with decorating your own cupcake. Hannah LOVED this, and ate every bite. This girl LOVES cake! It was a fun afternoon and a great party! Happy Friday!

Pony-Up

This morning we met up with some friends at a local pumpkin patch. It seemed awfully crowded for a weekday morning, and then I remembered that for most local schools, it is fall break. Then I noticed the school bus. Apparently, the one school that was not out for fall break was on a field trip to the pumpkin patch. It was crowded, but the weather was nice and the kids had a great time. Hannah even got to ride a pony, and I think the smile on her face says it all. She loves horses/ponies so this was a huge treat for her. I think Mike and I are going to try a new (to us) patch next week and actually pick out some pumpkins. (I had the kids by myself and wasn't going to attempt wrangling both kids and pumpkins in a crowd!) Here's hoping to no school buses!

The Little Drummer Boy...and Girl

We got to spend some time with my brother, sister-in-law, and nieces over the weekend. We swam, the kids played, and my brother was kind enough to indulge my kiddos and let them play his drums. David was very excited and focused. 

 
 Hannah was equally excited and had such a good time "playing" with her Uncle!

 

We had a great time and were so glad to spend some time with my family!
