Time Flies

I have been sorting pictures and trying to work on Hannah's album- my little baby isn't a little baby anymore. Of course I know that she is still indeed a baby- and by human standards indeed very little- but not like she was. She is getting so much bigger, I am amazed at how she is becoming less and less of a newborn everyday. Soon she will be walking and talking and that completely blows my mind. She is getting older- right now I am still talking in months, but soon I know it will be years. She is growing up and I delight in her development and her increasing wonder at the world around her, and look forward to the little person she is becoming, and I will always remember the tiny little baby we brought home from the hospital.

May God Smite the Mosquito That Was in My Room Last Night

A mosquito was apparently in our bedroom last night. And apparently it found me to be delicious. This morning while I was praying I actually prayed asking God to kill the mosquito. I always pray real classy like that- asking for death and all. Anyway I have to go find some anti-itch stuff before I scratch my skin off. I will post something else later- but I had to vent- and I don't think this is worth calling Mike at work for- he wouldn't say anything, but I bet he'd be thinking in the back of his head "She called me at work to tell me she has mosquito bites??" So thank you internet for letting me whine.

Thank Goodness Tomorrow is Friday!

Oh my what a day! Hannah and I were up for most of the night...so tired! And Sophie had diarrhea- so if Hannah was actually asleep I was up letting Sophie out. And then we were up all day. I am tired! Mike got off early so I got in a quick nap before dinner. Needless to say I did not cook- we went out and then went to check about my phone- it just needed a new battery so that was something. The eternal optimist that I am- I hope that we all get a good night's rest. Hopefully we will get a good start to the weekend. I get my hair cut tomorrow- and I am looking forward to being out of the house. Yes my exciting life!! I have to go and pick up my house since my MIL will be coming over to watch Hannah while I am out- and then hopefully I will get some sleep. This is the kind of entry you get when I am running on about 3 hours of sleep- hopefully tomorrow will be better!

Technical Difficulties

1. My garage door opener quit working.
2. My gate opener isn't working. I have no idea who to get in touch with to get it fixed? programmed?
3. My cell phone stopped working.
Yes it has been that kind of a day. I am really tired- I keep looking at the clock- it is not even 7:30 and I keep expecting the clock to show that it is at least after 10:00 because it feels like it is so much later than it is. Mike was ready to go look at new phones tonight, but I am deferring that happy task until tomorrow. I am mad that I am going to have to buy a new phone when the phone I have is barely a year old. And I never figured out how to get my pics/videos off of it. And I have now lost a lot of people's numbers- so if you don't hear from me it's because I no longer have your number and I do not have it memorized. I don't have anyone's number memorized anymore- I had to look up Mike's number from our cell phone bill to call him from our home phone and let him know that my cell phone wasn't working. Yes it has been that kind of day- I'm surprised the internet is working and that the computer hasn't exploded. But the night is still young, it's not even 7:30.

10 Things About My Day

10 Things About My Day
1. Instead of falling asleep to Noggin, this morning Hannah fell asleep to the soothing sounds of the soft rock channel. Nothing against Noggin, but she was getting fussy and music calms her down. Apparently she especially likes Michael Bolton. Yes I know.

2. Mike came home early. YEA!!!! He watched Hannah so I could run errands by myself.

3. The blanket that needed to go to the cleaners? It finally made it there today.

4. The UPS guy came to my house- twice.

5. I bought Oliver (my dog) a birthday present and treats- he is 5 years old. Oh yes I did.

6. I vacuumed the entire house. And I liked it.

7. I had Mexican food for dinner. Love me some guacamole.

8. I returned movies to Blockbuster- on time.

9. Hannah wore new jammies to bed. They have tulips on them. They are my new favorite.

10. I am now going to bed. EARLY!!!

Some Thoughts on "Noggin"

So I had Noggin on this morning- I usually put in on, put Hannah in her swing and make a mad dash for the shower. But as I was watching it this morning, thoughts that have been stirring around in my head for awhile came to the surface. Because I know you are so interested... I will share.

1. The saying (for parents of course) for this channel is "It's like preschool on tv". Really?!? Preschool on tv? The country's educational concerns are solved!! Preschool is now unnecessary- we can just have everyone get cable and watch Noggin instead!

2. I love how they have a little list at the beginning of each show explaining how it helps preschoolers and their development. Let's call an apple an apple people. It's entertainment for kids. Let's not overkill the whole education thing...it's cartoons. Yes they can get something out of it. But it's ok people at Noggin- I want to shower- it's ok for Hannah to watch a little kiddie tv. You don't have to TRY SO HARD to convince me that by watching your channel her brain is not being warped.

3. The moose is tone deaf. But the bird (my mother thinks it's an owl- I was thinking blue-bird?) is cute.

4. The button eye people creep me out. (I have a thing about eyeballs. EEE! Just thinking about them...and knee-caps. Shudders and hugs knees to chest-CREEP ME OUT!)

5. The Wonder Pets- The first time I watched it I was mesmerized the cute little duck and the singing. Now I can't help think what a dictator that guinea pig is! My goodness she(?) is so bossy! Every time the turtle or duck want to try something on their own the guinea pig puts the fire out like a wet blanket. NOOOOOO! We must do everything together!! I am the only one allowed to think... if you think for yourself I will chastise you for not being a TEAM player. TEAMWORK you little minions!! The guinea pig also is the only one who seems to have any knowledge about anything- I guess she(?) watches Noggin.

There are lots of great shows on Noggin- I am becoming quite the fan of The Backyardigans- as far as singing pre-school shows go- so far it is easily my favorite. Dora, Diego, Max and Ruby, the funny British guys, they are all great. I just think it is really funny that the channel is trying so desperately hard to make parents feel ok about their child watching television, that they make sweeping statements such as "It's like preschool on tv". My parents were pretty careful about the things that I watched and the time I spent in front of the tv- but I did my fair share of tv watching. Was some of it educational? Some entertainment? Sure- but the point is a little tv is ok- regardless of whether it is "educational" or not. Hannah is very little and I'm sure that some people are SHOCKED that I let my baby watch tv. TERRIBLE MOTHER!!! I am rotting her brain! She is doomed....DOOMED! But hey...it's educational right? And besides a girl's gotta shower!

The Week Ahead

As I look at the week ahead I think about how much my life has changed since Hannah was born. Errands that I could once complete in an afternoon now have to be spread out throughout the week, housework that I could knock out in a couple of hours now gets hurriedly rushed through during "naps", the never ending laundry is now even more never ending, being well rested is something that I don't remember, and moments alone are so few and far between and usually spent quickly trying to get something done around the house. Having Hannah has made me less efficient around the house, and everything takes a little longer, and I usually run a few minutes late despite all of my best efforts.

I prayed for this child. I agonized over getting pregnant. I jumped through crazy hoops to get pregnant. I spent more money than I care to think about on ovulation predictor kits, and pregnancy tests that would send me to tears. I prayed for this child. I lived life 28 days at a time for almost 4 years for this child. I took medication that made me depressed and CRAZY for this child. I wanted this child so bad I cried, a lot. I prayed for this child.

She is beautiful and I love her. She is worth every sacrifice I have ever made and any that I ever will. I miss her terribly if I am away from her for very long. Her gummy smile lights up my heart. I see Mike in her. I see myself in her. I would give anything for her. I prayed for her.

My prayer was answered. I wouldn't change a thing.

Some Progress

We (Mike) made some progress in the garage- so it's getting there. Just slowly. Today was one of those days that I just didn't feel like doing anything. Mike was so sweet and let me sleep in, and take my sweet time getting ready. I did go to the store, and get some laundry done, but otherwise I was not in a productive mood. How could I be with such a deliciously cute distraction?

Hooray for Friday!!!

Yeah the weekend is here!!! Mike is off this weekend and being the sweet husband that he is will probably get up with Hannah so I can sleep in tomorrow! Hooray for sleep!  I need it! Can you tell?!  We are also planning on working on the garage. It would be really nice to get it done so I could get my car in the garage so that everytime I go some place I am not loading my precious child into a moving oven. We'll see if this actually happens- if it is too hot or rainy I can totally see myself  bailing out and moving on to something else...the linen closet perhaps.

Dinner Plans

I like to cook- I especially like to fix things that look tricky and complicated but are actually quick and easy. (I love Sandra Lee's Semi-Homemade.- I am very good at assembly style cooking) I have been wanting to try out a new dessert recipe, so tonight we had Mike's parents and sister over for dinner. If I am fixing a dessert, I like to have people over so I am not left with a huge dessert that I will end up eating. (I can totally justify eating cake or pie for breakfast. I got some really dirty looks for eating blueberry pie for breakfast one morning at work while I was pregnant. I'm sure they were clicking their tongues thinking about my poor un-born baby getting her morning nourishment from pie! Terrible mother! How scandalous! Back off people-at least there was fruit in it- what kind of breakfast is doughnuts? Would I be getting those looks for eating breakfast pastry- which is essentially pie for breakfast? I rest my case, breakfast justified!) Anyway we had a nice visit and Hannah turned on the charm for her grandparents.
This is what we had:
Appetizer- Fried artichoke hearts, baby lettuce garden salad
Dinner- Chicken Picatta with angel hair pasta in a garlic lemon butter sauce, sauteed asparagus, steamed baby carrots, french bread
Dessert- this super easy ice cream cake (yum!)

Warning- eating blueberry pie for breakfast during pregnancy may cause un-containable cuteness!
